I don't know about the rest of you, but there are some glitches in this game that make it MUCH more fun, and interesting. For instance, there is a glitch behind the Aurora Glade portal I love to hang out in, and that some people use to make videos. They don't help you with the game, and they don't harm anything, they are just neat little niches that you can find and enter if you've been around long enough.

Due to the current crackdowns on bugs and glitches and things, I was wondering what Anet's stance is on these glitches, which do not harm anyone, but instead add some character and mystery to a game that is pretty fun already.

as far as I know

If you benefit from glitches its the breach of the EULA
even if that benefit is purely fun.

I can never find any glitches, because I don't pay attention to anything but uh.....if they don't harm anything who cares right?

Ya, all it is is the exact same area as outside there but without monsters- and since you have to pass through that area to finish prophecies anyway, it doesn't give any extra Cart benefit.

Another example would be in a Luxon outpost on the owners area- Bai Passu. There is a glitched area where you can walk out into the Bai Passu Explorable, but only on the mountains. It's pretty neat.

Another would be a very well known one in the Luxon AB outpost for the dragon map(haven't been on that map in awhile, forgot its name). There is a hole in the wall you can go into, and you hit another hole. all it is is a spot that you can take a screenie of and pretend your in a pit jail or something. Just things like that- neat little game quirks that harm no one, benefit no one, and add some personality to the game.

I am of the opinion that using an exploit will get you in trouble, but glitches in general, won't. Yes, an exploit is a type of glitch, but not all glitches are exploits.

Anyone else have an opinion on the subject? I would really rather not get banned for going into these areas and taking pretty screenshots, so I would like to have everyone's opinion.

Sure - ANet are only concerned with exploits. The glitches mentioned thus far are not exploitable for any profit or unfair advantage, so no foul.

i don't think it is an exsploit unless you exsploit it. so i mean use it to your advantage. then its just a fault in the game not something bad but just a "Glitch".

Like everyone else has said I think you are fine. The Aurora Glade glitch has been there as long as I can remember and ANet is fully aware of it. I think they look at it like you do, as a place you can get some good screen shots and just chill without getting any type of advantage.

*shrug* I can't count the number of times I've fooled around outside of Aurora Glade, if I'm going to go AFK for some time and (for whatever reason) I don't want to logout I go dance in on the other side of the portal.

Back when the outposts were full it was quite amusing, not so much any more as the majority of the people there are experienced and know about the glitch. I also have some neat screens, there are a few places you can stand that you can see inside some structures in the far back ground.

gotta be more specific on glitches. anet doesnt care if u benefit from the glitches as long as it wont affect the economy much. the guild hall mapping was an expolited glitch, but it didnt result in terribad amounts of money being inflated like anything doa related, so people werent banned. the glitch was merely patched.

Some forms of humour don't travel very well.

There are civilizations where Sarcasm Irony and Satire are almost unknown.

Used "Lacerate" bug In Polymock when it was useable. Lacerate is LAMEst skill in game after Peace and Harmony, so i think that it's good way to use it.

There is still bug at Eredon Terrace, people uses it, and I think it's fair because it's pretty hard to get areas like Jade Quarry.

I still don't accept using glitches like Mallyx was, since you get material profit from it.

I think the most fun I've had with a glitch was with the Borlis Pass gate bug. That huge 3-story gate halfway through the mission, if you clicked on the lever a whole bunch of times you could slam the gate open and closed real fast.

There was also the hole outside of Barradin's Estate in Pre-Searing where you could climb on top of the hill overlooking the whole area. It's just pure fun as long as it doesn't break the game.

isn't there a section in Tombs where you can get to the end of the world? or is that in the Dragon's Lair. Seem to remember doing it once or twice

A glitch is something not working properly.

An exploit is doing something that takes advantage of glitches, bugs, loopholes, stupid people, a badly designed judicial system, etc.

imo, death leveling is not a glitch. When something kills something, it gains XP.

Is it an exploit? Kinda...but it doesnt really give you any advantage.

Anet only bans people that abuse glitches to get cash things for much less effort or that breach the eula.

If you are not getting there by breaching the eula (i.e.: Just by using movement and skills) it's fine.

No one is going to ban you for getting 0.1% more of the map revealed.
